  • 24_uur_verkeerscentrale_1

Description:

The Municipality The Hague is responsible for control of the following critical processes and objects in the city:

  • the Traffic Control for Scheveningen harbour
  • the Hubertustunnel (a 1,5 km long tunnel with a lot of tunnel safety installations),
  • the Binckhorstbridge and the Trekvlietbridge,
  • a large number of 'pollers' in the shopping area of The Hague.

None of these objects need constant attention. However, an immediate reaction or control can be necessary at all hours of the day. For this reason the Hague decided to centralize the guarding of these objects and processes in a new 24 hours control centre in Scheveningen.
For this new control centre vhp carried out the following projects:

  • Calculation how many operators are necessary and how the tasks are divided between them in different situations.
  • With these numbers we could design the layout of the control room and for all workstations.
  • The positioning of all applications on the workstations and for some specific software the design of the Graphical User Interface. Examples:
  • The GUI for the control of the bridges
  • The GUI for the control of traffic lights and public lights in the harbour of Scheveningen
  • The GUI for the control of cameras including the principles behind automated use of cameras.
