CCTV Control room design Rotterdam
The camera surveillance of Rotterdam, which is a task of the police force Rotterdam-Rijnmond, is centralized in a CCTV Control Room (CCR). vhp has made an important contribution to realize the new CCR. An extensive project was executed in a short period of time. vhp made the List of Functional Requirement (LoFR), which contained requirement for:
- 1 Constructional design and building related installations
- This document contained the layout of the total space, including the surrounding offices, as well as functional requirements for building related installations, such as climate systems and lighting. The document served as a basis for the technical and architectural procurement guidelines.
- 2 Special furniture
- The functional requirements regarding furniture in the CCR were used by the architect to work out the elaborate designs of the special furniture.
- 3 Management software
- vhp defined the functional requirements for the camera management software. The requirements were taken in the procurement document for this management software.
- 4 Communication installations
- In assistance to the technical upgrading, a plan was made for the equipment of each workstation in the control room. The plan contained for instance functional requirements for telephone communications and trunking.
The new CCR has the capacity to observe over 20 areas in and around Rotterdam. It was taken into use with much pride. One statement was distinctive: ‘It is a treat to work here.’
